NEWS: Ness nets national awardThu 07 Jun
Durham Women striker Zoe Ness was honoured at the FA Women’s Football Awards on Friday evening.
The Scottish striker scooped the FA WSL 2 Players’ Player of the Year award at a glittering awards ceremony at The Brewery, London.
Ness, who signed a new contract with the Wildcats last week, was voted for by players’ from the other nine teams in the second tier as the best they had faced.
With nine goals to her name in the 2017/18 campaign, Ness enjoyed a fine season in front of goal with her power and hold-up play proving difficult for defenders to deal with.
She also received international recognition earlier this year when she was handed her first Scotland cap in a friendly against New Zealand.
That was quickly followed by a first senior Scottish goal against Poland in a 3-0 win – with this award rounding-off an excellent year.
Tweeting after finding out she had won the award, Ness said: “Really pleased to win this award last week.
“Having enjoyed the past few months, I’m looking forward to the new season starting!”
